Creamy miso mushroom udon

, ,

Creamy Miso Mushroom Udon is a warm and comforting dish loaded with garlic, butter, onion, and mushrooms in a delicate cream sauce. This dish boasts umami flavors from the miso, with the mushrooms adding a savory depth. The creamy texture balances perfectly with the chewy udon noodles, making it a delightful bowl of goodness.

All the comfort in one pan

If you love cream-based sauces and mushrooms, this creamy udon will quickly become your favorite dinner option. The best part? It takes just under 15 minutes to prepare in a single pan using basic ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen.

Mushrooms variety

Experiment with different types of mushrooms like shiitake, oyster, or portobello for varied flavors and textures.

Customise your creamy base

Choose your dairy to control richness: heavy cream for luxury, evaporated milk for a lighter touch, or oat cream for dairy-free richness. To perfectly adjust consistency and help the sauce cling, blend your chosen base with the starchy udon cooking water as it naturally thickens and lightens the sauce. Always taste and adjust seasoning at the end, as each base interacts differently with the miso and soy sauce.

Balance with contrasting texture

Add textural contrast with crunchy toppings like toasted sesame seeds, crispy fried shallots, or shreds of nori for a perfect final bite.
